The New Indian Express and ETTelecom report that Doda District Magistrate Krishan Lal issued a complete prohibition on VPN use across the district for two months. The order is reported to have been issued on 5 September under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita.
According to the reports, officials cited alleged use of VPNs to circumvent cyber restrictions and access prohibited applications, websites or content, describing the measure as a response to cybersecurity and public-order concerns.
